YMCA Musicians Motivate Toddlers to MoveWhat happens when a preschool teacher and a musician / song writer team up? Children, ages 3-5 years, have the opportunity to express themselves through interactive play set to live, child-centered music.
Local musician, Isaac Davis, and his wife, Brittaney, will be offering a special class for toddlers each Monday at 5:30PM, beginning February 20, at the Owen County Family YMCA. Children will be encouraged to dance, sing, interact with their peers, and appreciate music. Isaac entertains and interacts with the children through singing accompanied by guitar, while Brittaney facilitates the program with her energy and enthusiasm. This seven week program will be offered at no cost, for members and non-members, through a grant from the Owen County Community Foundation. Class size is limited. Parents must register their children by February 19, at the Owen County Family YMCA. For more information, please call 812-828-9622.

As the pressures of daily living consume individuals and families, often exploring the arts is placed further down the list of priorities. The Owen County Family YMCA reminds us that true “health” involves mind, body, and spirit. In an effort to promote all aspects of health in our community, the YMCA is embarking on a series, as part of a national Y-USA initiative, to afford residents the opportunity to explore a variety of arts programs. In addition, it will give local artists another venue to display their work and share their passion with others.
“Y-Arts programming is about celebrating the influence of art and culture on youth and adults alike,” said Laura Gentry, Program Director of the Owen County Family YMCA. “It's an opportunity for local artists to showcase their work, share their talents, and bring everyone together to experience and understand the pleasure and impact of the arts.”
