Description of the Classes offer at the Y
Daytime Classes
Active Older Adult - Class includes warm up, 20 minutes of low impact cardiovascular exercise with intermittent bouts of light toning exercises, and finishes with 20 minutes of basic Yoga postures to improve balance and flexibility.
Evening Classes
Cardio Fit - Increase endurance, burn calories, and tone your body with this cardio workout interspersed with bouts of toning exercises. Suitable for all fitness levels.
Power Strike - Combine Cardio Kickboxing with multi-muscle strength training for a powerful, exhilarating workout that sculpts the entire body
Step N' Tone - Class begins with step aerobics and ends with challenging toning exercises.
Yogalates - a blend of fitness-oriented Yoga and Mat Pilates for a strong core, better balance, and improved posture.
Zumba - A hot Latin dance party that gets your heart pumping and tones your body.
Aquatic Classes
Aqua Fit - Get your heart pumping and tone your body in the water. Low impact and easy on joints.
Cardio Splash - Fun aquatic class focusing on improving range of motion with emphasis on the cardiovascular endurance.
Youth Fitness Programs
Hip Hop - Learn cool dance moves to popular hip hop music. Express yourself and learn the basics of modern movement for boys and girls.
Swim Lessons - Lesson for beginner or advanced swimmers. Beginner: Floating, Submerge head, Open eyes under water to pick up objects, Tread water, Roll from front to back. Advanced: Jump into deep from side, perform rotary breathing, perform butterfly kick, dive from sitting or kneeling position, swim front crawl, submerge fully to retrieve objects, swim back crawl.
Tumble Time Gymnastics - Basic tumbling, coordination, cooperation, balance, flexibility, and fun.
Youth Strength & Coordination - Improve overall fitness, encourages healthy body image, prepare for middle or high school athletics, and nourish a love a physical activity with this class designed for boys or girls. (part of Operation Fit Kidz)
Youth Yoga - (starting Session 1 Jan 3, 2012) Ages 8-14 - basic Yoga stretches and strength poses in a fun, energetic format. Improves focus, body awareness, flexibility, strength, and posture. (part of Operation Fit Kidz)
